Natalia Dimitrova, a Level 3 Games Design student, recently sat down with us to share her inspiring insights and success stories at FutureSkills.

Why did you choose FutureSkills when applying for colleges?

"It was offering courses that would lead me to a career that I would want to practice. I decided to pick a college that was close to home, which this college is, and I knew FutureSkills would offer a nice pathway up for me to careers I’m interested in."

What is your dream career, and how do you think studying at FutureSkills has helped you nurture this goal?
..
"My dream career is to be an architect, but at the time of applying I didn’t know what I wanted to do for work but I knew that I had a knack for anything creative or digital so I thought to try and combine it as best as I can with Games Design, which is very technical but also requires a lot of creative thinking and artistic talent. So, I feel like having studied Games Design I can see that this is the direction my life should go in and ultimately decided on something a little bit different and new to try, so it helped me form an idea of the future."

"The staff at FutureSkills have been helpful and accommodating to my goal and have provided a lot of work experience for me outside of just college work such as uni visits, events, lots of things at Media City so there’s been a lot of enrichment."

What was your made it moment?
..
"My made it moment was when I completed a project for college coursework. It was to create a realistic 3D model and I chose to do a horse and saddle in the western style, which you would see in cowboy games or movies. When I completed that project and I felt accomplished and happy with myself because it required a lot of technical and creative thinking, and I think it turned out pretty good!"

What advice would you give to someone applying for FutureSkills?

"I would say as long as you’re passionate about what you want to do or what you’re going into then FutureSkills is going to be great for you because it has the resources, the equipment and an accommodating environment."

How would you describe FutureSkills in 3 words?

"Progressive, inclusive and ambitious."
